I have just completed a week on the blood sugar diet. I have lost 3kg this week and lost some inches, both of which I am over the moon. However, my blood sugar increased from 5.1mmol/l to 5.5mmol/l. Please could anyone explain why this has happened? It’s also happened to me. I’ve been doing it for 2 1/2 weeks now. Lost a stone and a bit but my blood sugar has gone from 5.8 up to 6.6 when I tested this morning. I am a little worried as i’m trying to reverse the effects of metabolic syndrome and don’t want to go on anymore medication, ideally I want to be off the GlucoLife blood sugar support pressure tablets as well. I’m only eating recipes from the recipe book as well to keep me on track for the moment.
The increases you mention are tiny and just natural fluctuations. You will find things will settle and start to go down when your body accepts the new way of eating. Just keep going, it is early days yet and it does work. By the way, your weight losses are great so you must be doing something right. Thanks for that. All a bit new to me this GlucoLife Blood Glucose Support sugar stuff. Just seems alarming when you see it going up when you’ve cut out the crap and eating clean. Still keeping to it. Really like it actually and I can feel the difference, as well as seeing it! I am also puzzled by the blood sugar stuff. I absolutely haven’t a clue why this happens. The weird thing is that although I am on maintenance my waist size is still getting smaller. I have just gone through a two week blood sugar blip and my waist has gone down another inch and several people have commented that I have lost more weight - I haven’t - its staying stable. So maybe my liver is still going through changes. Who knows - it is a puzzle though. I would guess that you are still losing visceral fat and repairing the organs, hence the decrease in waist measurement but stable weight. That has to be a good thing. Mixnmatch - I think you are right that I am still losing visceral fat and repairing the organs which has to be a very good thing. An ultrasound scan showed a very fatty liver in 2000 - and I assume that it had been fatty for a long time prior to that - so it will probably take sometime to fully recover. My pancreas also was pretty badly damaged and had completely stopped working by the time I was diagnosed with diabetes.
A Complete Organic Lifestyle Magazine! List of Low Sodium Foods That Everyone Must know! Today, we present to you some interesting facts about how sodium is good and the list of low sodium foods that must be included in your regular diet. So, you can lead to the fit and healthy life. Interesting Facts About Sodium You Did Not Know About! Sodium and its compounds are used for food preservation. Critical for blood pressure regulation and appropriate functioning of the nervous system. Sodium in isolated form alone is explosive in nature. Only when combined with chlorine, it becomes table salt. Sodium compounds are used in detergents and cosmetics. Sodium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate were used to pack mummies by the ancient Egyptians. Sugar is not your only enemy. Too much salt in the form of sodium too can be dangerous to your body. Earlier research had indicated that too much salt can affect the nervous system and increase blood pressure. You may be wondering that humans have used salt only as a food seasoning and as a method of preservation.
However, adequate sodium salt is also required for the appropriate functioning of the body. However, when the sodium levels in the body increase it affects the nervous system, cardiovascular function, renal function, and increases blood pressure. Hence, it is very important to ensure an appropriate balance of sodium in the body. Since sodium is already present in adequate amounts in our body, it is essential to regulate sodium intake by consuming low sodium foods that help maintain an appropriate balance. Sodium is a mineral in the body that carries an electric charge and is often referred to as an "electrolyte". The body balances the sodium levels in the body through various biological processes. Sodium is transported through water in the body. If the concentration of sodium in the tissue increases, the fluid in the body also increases. Hence, the sodium content is responsible for controlling the fluid concentration in the body.
This mechanism ensures that the tissues and cells do not shrink or swell. Sodium plays an important role in the following functions of the body. Since sodium ions carry a positive electric charge, they easily dissolve in fluids like water. Since water transports sodium in the body, there is a direct influence of sodium concentration on the fluid distribution. Sodium concentration plays an important role in the distribution of fluids in the body. The concentration of sodium also helps the distribution of fluids in blood vessels and plays a major role in controlling blood pressure. Adequate amounts of sodium in the body keeps blood pressure in check. A higher sodium intake can cause more water retention in the blood vessels thus raising blood pressure. Sodium also acts as the carrier and transports minerals out of and into cells. The concentration of sodium is higher outside than inside, hence sodium flows into the cells.
